- Just
back from November 9th in Sicily...we'll get pics from ITALY TOUR 2004
up soon, and we'll be back in April 2005
- May
- Our record label has a new release
on May 18th, and the NY Press calls its auteur, Rachelle
Garniez, "One of the greatest songwriters of our time".
Check out "Luckyday" at the Old
Cow site.
- February
- Thanks
to all who came out to Jazz Standard. We're sorry to those who couldn't
get in, we've really appreciated the emails, and we'll keep you posted
about the next one.
- January
- Grazie Mille a tutti i nostri amici
in Italia! Here
are some photos
from our Dec tour. Vuoi comprare

- Wait!
Aspetti! We'll
be back in Europe in July. Here are even more photos
and reviews...
December
- "Love
Story" has been awarded the number TWO slot on Amazon's
"Top 10 Jazz CDs of 2003" -
It is, in fact, the ONLY self-released
CD to appear on the list. That's
nice.
November
- Munisteri
is featured in December's Acoustic Guitar
Magazine. A
lengthy feature article on New York's Jazz Singer/Songwriter scene
opens with photos of Matt and Jesss Harris - "two of the
musicians spearheading the jazz/songwriter movement"- and
goes on to profile both, along with like-minded cohorts Doug Wamble,
Adam Levy and Brandon Ross.
November
- Great review in December's
Vintage Guitar Magazine
October-
Munisteri is pictured in Esquire Magazine
with
Steven Bernstein's Millenial Territory Orchestra,
with
whom he's been playing many Mondays at The Jazz Standard. See

July
- Nice
CD review in No Depression Magazine
July
-
Munisteri in Downbeat magazine. Article profiles Matt as an in demand NYC sideman
with an "enormously talented" band. Nice pic too...
May
- "Love
Story" is now being reported by over 150 radio stations.
How'd that happen, given that the music doesn't easily
fit into any one format? Thank you to all the DJs and MDs who think
for yourselves.
APRIL
11th
- Will Freidwald article about the band in The
New York Sun. Of
Munisteri's originals he writes that they "are among the
the best new words-and-music efforts I've heard by a musician in
recent years", and of the band's newly resurrected material
he writes "Brock Mumford doesn't just recreate these unfairly
neglected tunes, they make them sound born again".
APRIL
7th -
Craig Havighurst, writing of "Love Story" in The
Tenessean, says that "this remarkable
record is an antidote to everything too loud, too synthetic and
too histrionic in much of today's music...this heroic little combo
swings and rocks, and remains beguilingly cool throughout"
APRIL
2003 -
The
New Yorker ran an amusing
drawing
of Matt and wrote a great
preview of our third show of the year at Joe's Pub.
APRIL
2003 "Love Story" is the editors' choice in Acoustic
Guitar Magazine
"The
perfect replacement combo should the Prairie Home Companion house
band ever have a run-in with a dodgy batch of tuna casserole"

MARCH 2003 Great review in All
About Jazz "A ninety
degree against the grain delight... I'm in fact reminded of The
Band here, and their second album...read

Other Happenings of Note...
Matt plays
live on the radio. It was very early
-and Carol Blanco was very sweet- on WNYE, and on WFMU
he said a bad word to Meredith Ochs.
Matt will be playing
with Jenny Scheinman at Barbes
on many Sundays this winter, augmenting their duo sound
with Will Holshouser's accordion , and re-visiting the music
of Lionel Belascoe, Django Reinhardt and more - we'll keep you posted
at gigs.
There
have been a few really special tribute shows in the last year.
The Swing Guitar Summit
shows have paired Matt with Austin guitar great Dave Biller in
Sept, and Whit Smith of The
Hot Club Of Cowtown in Dec. Also BROCK MUMFORD had a chance
to play some of Eddie Lang's music on October 25th -the 100th anniversary
of his birth- at The Brooklyn Academy Of Music.
Matt's guitar playing
is featured on several new 2003 CD releases,
including Geoff Muldaur's Personal Astronomy, Andy
Stein's Doin' Things A Little Like Venuti, The Arbor's
All Stars' Happy Birthday Bix, and, in a different vein,
Rachelle Garniez's brand new 2004 release "Lucky
Day".
